The Answer to the Question About Viewing Pornographic Films and the Slander against Hizb ut Tahrir To: Omar Daragmeh (Translated)

بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم

Question

Assalamu Alaikum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu Our Sheikh,

I hope that you as our Shiekh can respond to those who slander Hizb ut Tahrir on numerous issues, amongst the most circulating is the issue of viewing pornographic movies.

Answer

Wa Alaikum Assalaam wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakatahu,

In regards to the issue of pornographic films, our opinion on the matter is clear. We have issued a clear answer and it is written on our official page as follows:

"And in regards to the viewing of pornographic films, it is impermissible, regardless of whether they are photographs as opposed to real bodies. This is because of the legal principle (Qaida Shar'iyah) which states that "the means to Haram is Haram". The means in this case does not necessarily have to lead to haram with certainty, but mere conjecture is sufficient.

These movies predominantly lead to Haram and thus the aforementioned principle applies to these movies. Hence, it is impermissible to view these movies or obtain them.

In regards to the way in which the brothers and sisters from Hizb ut Tahrir should deal with Muslims who watch these movies: Unfortunately it is usually the case that those who watch these movies have fallen into their lustful desires. Therefore enjoining them towards the good or forbidding them from the evil is of no benefit, except those upon whom Allah has bestowed His mercy. Despite this however, our brothers and sisters should employ strong, deterring and wise means. Perhaps the brother who posed this question was concerned for some of his close-ones who have fallen into a these acts. If so, he should enjoin them to the good, forbid them from the evil and choose an appropriate means, such that Allah guides them and he will be rewarded for such, Bidhnillah.

Today, Muslims are surrounded by calamities as a result of the absence of their Khilafah "Caliphate". It is necessary that Muslims do not spend their time in recreation even if it is the permissible aspect, then how so if it is spent in the prohibited recreation, Allah forbid! It is obligatory upon you, oh brothers, to face the Muslims sternly but wisely in order to fill their time with good deeds, serious work, and efforts towards the re-establishment of the Khilafah "Caliphate" and to save the Ummah from these calamities." End.

In regards to those who slander, they do not belong to the seekers of the truth. For had they sought the truth, they would have resorted to our books or official pages in which they would have found purity. They themselves did not attain pureness, which cannot be founded except amongst those who love Allah and look towards the Hereafter with more earnestness than this world.

And those who slander draw upon books which do not belong to us. As though they are unaware of the major sin they are falling into as a result of their slander:

(إِنَّ الَّذِينَ يَفْتَرُونَ عَلَى اللَّهِ الْكَذِبَ لَا يُفْلِحُون)

"Indeed, those who invent falsehood about Allah will not succeed." [Yunus: 69]

Your brother,
Ata Bin Khalil Abu Al-Rashtah
