News Right Now: The Most Sinister of all Trades

Assalamu alaikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu, Welcome to News Right Now - The Most Sinister of All Trades!

From the US-Mexico border, to factories in East Asia, to the secluded private islands of decadent billionaires, the issue of human slavery, human trafficking, and forced sex work is a reality too prevalent to deny. According to the International Labor Organization, in 2017 nearly 25 million people around the world were trapped in forced labor, with nearly 5 million of them experiencing forced sexual exploitation. The reality is that human trafficking is on the rise, and often occurs in plain sight, manifested as forced labor in farms, fisheries, and factories across the globe.

The stories are tragic and infuriating, from men locked in cages to work on farms, to young boys and girls kidnapped and sold into prostitution, to domestic workers forced to work as maids and housekeepers for 16 hour days, 7 days a week. Many times it is Muslims who are forced to flee their homes and resort to a life of slavery and servitude. Muslims escaping war zones like Syria, and Myanmar, Libya are most vulnerable to this heartless, inhumane crime. They are then exploited by greedy employers that treat them no better than cattle and livestock.

The story of multi-millionaire money-manager Jeffrey Epstein in the US captured the world’s attention and drew a straight line between millionaire bankers, wealth managers, and politicians and the ugly, heinous sex crimes and child trafficking rings. With Epstein, he had been accused of sex crimes with minors before, and had likely been engaging for decades, but used his massive fortune and high-powered legal team to absolve himself. Still, his death has cast a long shadow on the murky and elusive network of enablers, handlers, clients, and patrons that partook in his sinful escapades.

As for the root cause of this corruption, it’s the Capitalist system that strips God from public life, and that makes benefit and the pursuit of desire the ultimate objective in life. Faced with no alternative, it’s the Capitalist system that forces the weak and the poor to sell themselves into slavery just to escape a bleak and grim existence. These are main factors leading to the human trafficking, which the whole world knows that is only possible with the support of high-level authorities across the world. It is an irrefutable fact that children, women and men can only be subjugated to inhumane treatment and violations in the absence and protective system.

Such a system was and will only be the Khilafah (Caliphate) upon the Method of Prophethood. Under the Khilafah, the economy is driven on basis of Islamic economic system that put strong economic policies aiming at the effective distribution of wealth, so that the basic needs of all individuals are met thus tackling poverty. All forms of oppression and mistreatment of human beings will be brought to an end since the Khilafah takes the lives of human being as sacred.

Jazakum Allahu khairan for joining us.
