The US is Giving Russia the Illusion of Victory while Intimidating and Engaging Europe

News:

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk gave an interview to European media in which he warned that Europe had entered a “pre-war era” and that if Russia achieved victory over Ukraine, no one on the continent would feel safe.

His statements came on the day (March 29, 2024) that Russia launched another massive attack on Ukrainian energy facilities using missiles and drones. (Source: https://www.bbc.com/russian/articles/c4n505y07xno)

Comment:

An analysis of the events taking place over the past few months around the Russian invasion of Ukraine makes it clear that the United States at this stage is setting the following goals in relation to Russia and the EU countries.

1. Regarding Europe, the United States, having paused funding for Ukraine, wants even greater involvement of European countries in the Ukrainian crisis.

That is why the Ukrainian government, which is completely under the influence of the United States, plays along by declaring that Ukraine can cope without American help if its European allies take a more active role.

Apparently, the European powerhouse countries, France and Germany, as well as other active players such as Poland, with its current pro-European government, view this situation as an opportunity to gain at least some influence on the situation in the Ukrainian crisis.

Thus, in his Easter speech, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz called on Germans to unite against the Russian threat and strengthen support for Ukraine.

As for France, as you know, at a meeting to support Ukraine, which was convened on February 26 by the president of this country, Emmanuel Macron, he announced a coalition of long-range weapons for Ukraine and said that NATO could send military personnel to Ukraine.

Earlier, National Security Advisor to the US President Jake Sullivan, encouraging the French President, said that Emmanuel Macron, as the leader of a sovereign state, has every right to consider the possibility of sending troops to Ukraine.

Statements by the Prime Minister of Poland, the President of France and other European leaders aim to prepare the public opinion of their peoples in favor of increasing spending on Ukraine.

Apparently, Europe understands that it will not work to sit behind the back of the United States, since their overseas ally, with its feigned inaction, is deliberately encouraging Russia to escalate in Ukraine.

However, there is currently no indication that European involvement will weaken US influence in the Ukraine crisis. On the contrary, America's undivided grip on the situation leaves no chance for other participants in the international rivalry.

2. As for short-sighted Russia, the United States wants to inflict even greater damage on Moscow’s economic and military power by creating the illusion among the Russian leadership that Western support for Ukraine has weakened and now is the opportune moment to force Ukraine to the negotiating table.

Falling for this American ploy, Putin intensified his offensive operations in eastern Ukraine, as well as shelling of Ukrainian territory.

For example, massive attacks on energy infrastructure have resumed, which nevertheless seem inappropriate and, moreover, stupid, in light of the fact that it is the middle of spring, and Ukraine’s ability to shoot down missiles is much greater than before.

To mislead Russia, the United States skillfully uses discussions in Congress between the two parties, and also throws into the information field inappropriate predictions that with Donald Trump coming to power, support for Ukraine will significantly decrease, if not stop altogether.

As an example of how the idea of supposedly existing disagreements between the leadership of the United States and Ukraine is imposed on Russia, one can cite the situation surrounding the attacks on Russian oil refineries.

Thus, US State Department Speaker Matthew Miller, on the one hand, stated: “...We do not encourage or support attacks by Ukraine outside its territory.”

On the other hand, Advisor to the Head of the Office of the President of Ukraine M. Podolyak responded to a resonant article by the Financial Times that the United States allegedly demanded that Ukraine stop attacks on Russia’s oil infrastructure with the following words:

“This is fictitious information. After two years of a full-scale war, no one will dictate to Ukraine the terms of waging this war.”

It is naive to think that such large-scale attacks deep into Russian territories occur without US approval, as well as without American assistance in planning and providing the intelligence information necessary for such attacks.

To summarize, it should be said that the United States continues to dominate the Ukrainian crisis. Everything that has happened in recent months reveals America’s actions aimed, on the one hand, at encouraging Russia, led and provoked, to further escalation in Ukraine, with the goal of further weakening the Putin regime, and on the other, forcing Europe to become even more actively involved in the confrontation with Russia.
