News Right Now: Marching in the Wrong Direction

Welcome to the episode, ‘Marching in the Wrong Direction’

During last month’s NATO summit in Brussels, Turkish president Recep Tayyip Erdogan spoke with the US president, offering Turkish troops which are already stationed in Afghanistan to take on the more significant role of protecting Kabul’s Hamid Karzai International Airport. In light of the mass withdrawal of Australian, Canadian and US forces, Turkey is keen to further its own interests in the region by once again supporting the ambitions of the US, as Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said...” the operation and security of Kabul airport are vital not only to the country but to the survival of all diplomatic missions including Turkey’s”.

Erdogan’s offer will benefit Turkey through the financial support received from the US - and no doubt he hopes for an easing of the sanctions the Trump administration had placed on Turkey in 2017 as punishment for its $2.5 billion deal with Russia, for the acquisition of the S-400 missile defence system. No doubt Erdogan also hopes to be reinstated into the US led F-35 fighter jet program that Turkey had been subsequently barred from. This offer is typical of Turkey, given the dirty role it played in Syria and Libya. In Syria, Turkey engaged in ‘trade offs’ with Russia, whereby Russia granted Turkey territorial concessions in exchange for turning a blind eye to the advances of Assad’s forces elsewhere. This tactic allowed Russia, Iran and Bashar al Assad to conquer Aleppo outright and damage the chances of the sincere revolutionaries in 2016. Also in 2018, Turkey’s silence allowed Assad to retake the eastern third of Idlib’s de-escalation zone, just so it could expand its own zone and remove the YPG from Afrin.

Likewise in Libya, Turkey reshaped the entire conflict in the favour of the UN recognised the Al Sarraj government at America’s behest – by openly supporting the US favourite Al Sarraj, while simultaneously allying with Russia, who backed the ex-CIA agent Khilafa Hattar who sought to seize Tripoli from the Al Sarraj government.

Therefore knowing the true nature of the Erdogan government, which blatantly plays the role of a lackey, belittling itself to gain any advantage - we can fully expect the same deceptive tactics of self interest in its dealings with the Taliban. Because unlike the great Ottoman Khilafah, today’s nation state Turkey proves to us time and again that it has no allegiance whatsoever to the Muslims or Islam. Whether the Ummah be suffering or whether the Shariah is being desecrated through misapplication and reform, Turkey is clearly not invested in the matters of Islam. So we cannot expect any compassion towards the Taliban in their just goal of ridding the land from the control of imperialists, who once again are intent on nation building by crushing the life-force from the people through incursions, tyranny and overt and covert occupation.

So the open betrayal of President Erdogan continues, just as it did when he met China’s Prime Minister Xi Jinping and said, “It is a fact that the peoples of China’s Xinjiang region live happily in China’s development and prosperity”. “Turkey does not permit any person to incite disharmony in the Turkey-China relationship. Turkey firmly opposes extremism and is willing to increase mutual political trust with China and strengthen security cooperation.” Erdogan is fully aware of the persecution, brutalisation and ethnic cleansing of the Uighur Muslims of Xinjiang province, yet he proudly upheld the satanic narrative of Islamic extremism and terrorism to justify the atrocities against Muslims, rather than jeopardise Turkey's geo-political goals and economic ties with China.

He had the same soulless stance regarding Syria, when he would be eagerly supporting the actions of the US, Russia and Iran over the oppressed Syrian people and the sincere revolution they desperately needed. His support created obstacles in the revolution and repeatedly assisted the plots of the disbelievers. His actions directly caused the death and displacement of tens of thousands of Muslims and devastated the country further. So to now claim the moral high ground of facilitating refugees is a sickening indictment on Erdogan’s shameless character.

Abu Huraira RA reported, the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Years of treachery will come over people in which liars are believed and the truthful are denied, the deceitful are trusted and the trustworthy are considered traitors, and the disgraceful (Ruwaybidah)will deliver speeches.” It was said, “Who are the disgraceful? (Ruwaybidah). ” The Prophet said, “Petty men with authority over the common people.”
Ibn Mājah 4036, Sahih (authentic) according to Al-Albani

So our beloved Prophet (saw) has perfectly described these lowly rulers for us to easily recognise and bear witness to their actions. Therefore the onus is on us, the Muslim Ummah to recognise them, sever all ties with them and even all our hopes and expectations of help according to Islam from them. It is clear that these rulers cannot be sweet-talked, lobbied or voted into supporting the Muslims, because they are not only on the side of the enemy – rather, with their own secular political ideals and ambitions, they are the enemy!

The Muslim nations are embarrassingly all too often the first to support the aims of the imperialists, and like Turkey, although others are leaving, they rush to pledge support of their troops to any venture that will win them the affection of their masters in the West – rather than utilise the Muslim troops in the defence of Muslim blood and land.

This proves time and again how desperately we Muslims need our shield and protection in the form of the Khilafah. Led by the sincere leader that will hold nothing more sacred than the blood of Muslims, and so act to preserve the lives and livelihood of the oppressed and downtrodden victims of western hegemony.

RasulAllah ﷺ said, «إِنَّمَا الْإِمَامُ جُنَّةٌ يُقَاتَلُ مِنْ وَرَائِهِ وَيُتَّقَى بِهِ» “Indeed, the Khalifah is a shield, from behind whom you fight and by whom you are protected.” [Muslim].
