Welcome to News Right Now: Punishable Posts...

Last month the Indian National Investigation Agency (NIA) announced a series of charges in line with Indian criminal law against 31-year-old Muhammad Iqbal, which is the third such case in Tamil Nadu in only three months. Our brother Mohammed is accused of spreading unacceptable messages on social media by simply holding discussion sessions regarding the reestablishment of the Khilafah (Caliphate) system in the Muslim lands on platforms such as Facebook. The NIA also said that Mohammed Iqbal is a supporter of Hizb ut Tahrir, who they falsely reported as instigators of violent jihad who aim to establish Islamic rule in India.

The false narrative about Hizb ut Tahrir’s activities is becoming widespread in India. Perpetuated by the NIA and the Modi government, as well as much of India’s media machine, the lies and propaganda aim to equate the idea of Khilafah with extremism and terrorism... and so demonise Muslims for believing in its centrality within Islam, and standing for this pure Islamic call. Specifically the idea of waging Jihad in India is a fear mongering tactic used to create misunderstanding, distrust and division in communities. Likewise the Islamic Khilafah state is assumed to be and is described as an oppressive and discriminatory state for Muslims only, which is to be feared and fought at any cost.

The truth is that the work of Hizb ut-Tahrir is to carry the Islamic da'wah in order to change the situation of a corrupt society, so that it is transformed into an Islamic society. It aims to do this by firstly changing the society's existing thoughts to Islamic thoughts so that these pure thoughts become public opinion.

The political struggle of Hizb ut Tahrir is manifested in the struggle against the disbelieving imperialist nations... to deliver the Ummah from their domination and to liberate Muslims from their intellectual, cultural, political, economic influence and military interference.

The political struggle also appears in challenging the rulers, revealing their treasons and conspiracies against the Ummah, and by taking them to task and changing them if they denied the rights of the Ummah, or refrained from performing their duties towards her, or ignored any matter of her affairs, or violated the laws of Islam.

Since the Modi administration came to power in 2014, it has been an enemy to India’s Muslims. This right wing nationalist government has further radicalised the BJP party members, who routinely seek to orchestrate religious tensions by emboldening sections of the Hindu population in its hated of Muslims and Islam. This is apparent in the exponential rise in hate crimes against Muslims, which include beatings, murders, setting fires to homes, businesses and mosques. The incitement of the most recent tensions in Delhi in 2020 where at least 100 Muslims were killed and hundreds more were injured as homes and businesses were attacked and burned, was well known to have been caused by the right wing nationalist rhetoric.

Also, Modi’s government has been responsible for cementing new anti-Muslim legislation into law, which the BJP had called for many years. A series of measures relating to Islamic marriage, halal meat, places of worship, and the highly controversial and contested Anti Citizenship Amendment Act (ACC), have served to dramatically increase the marginalization of the country’s Muslim’s, one of the world’s largest and oldest minorities.

India is a hypocritical nation lauding itself as the world’s largest democracy. It lays claim to a heritage of knowledge, wisdom and enlightenment which in reality is the remnants of the Muslim Mughal rule, which introduced the region to the sublime Islamic practices and values of cleanliness, honesty, self-discipline and integrity. And because of the period of British rule, India inherited its own colonial legacy which is the only factor that has served to make it relevant in the secular Capitalist geopolitical landscape of today. Like its colonial masters dictated to it... India believes it champions religious tolerance, human rights and free speech – but in reality, its tolerance is only for cows... Let alone Muslims, even Hindu’s are treated with disdain based on the wretched caste system. Some are even called ‘untouchables’ and their lives are filled with every harm and ill imaginable. However, according to the Modi government’s degenerate belief in ‘Karma’, the nation’s poor, unfortunate poverty stricken, and forgotten people are to be kept this way on purpose, so that they are reincarnated as higher caste individuals in another life. This is a poor and sorry excuse for a government to abandon its own citizens and focus on wealth creation for its elites only. Such a belief system is not worthy of discussion let alone implementation... and naturally from such a flawed irrational thought about life, there will emerge an equally flawed hypocritical stance about the rights and protection of its citizens of any religion - which is why we see Muslims persecuted despite Modi’s politically correct ramblings about minority rights and protections.

The people of India should dissociate themselves from the disastrous policies of the Modi government and realise that it is in their interests to maintain good neighbourly relations with Muslims, because the Islamic Ummah is preparing for a great revival, which will be established soon by the permission of Allah (swt) and with the glad tidings of the Prophet (saw). When the Khilafah returns the Ummah will look upon all the injustice and transgression that was perpetrated against it, taking into consideration those who were good to the Ummah and those who offended it. Allah (swt) said,

“Have they not travelled through the land and observed how was the end of those before them? They were more numerous than themselves and greater in strength and in impression on the land, but they were not availed by what they used to earn” [Ghaffir: 82].
