In statements that were, to say the least, dangerous, made by the head of the transitional phase, Ahmed al-Sharaa, aspects of the current Syrian situation were revealed. He indicated that "Syria knows how to fight, but it no longer wants war," and that it "has no choice but to reach a security agreement with Israel," while "Israel's commitment to this agreement is a different matter."

Trump stated in a post on his Truth Social platform: “I am pleased to report that we are having very inspired and productive discussions with the Middle Eastern Community concerning Gaza,” adding that... “Intense negotiations have been going on for four days, and will continue for as long as necessary in order to get a Successfully Completed Agreement.”

Al-Sharaa also disclosed that high-level talks are underway regarding a security agreement with the Zionist entity, backed by the United States and Gulf States. While acknowledging that conditions are not yet in place for a full peace treaty, Al-Sharaa stated he would not hesitate to pursue such an accord if it served Syria’s “interests.” (The Syrian Observer)
