Trump’s Unhinged Rhetoric of Empire

On Easter Sunday, Donald Trump posted an unhinged tirade, stating: “Tuesday will be Power Plant Day, and Bridge Day, all wrapped up in one, in Iran. There will be nothing like it!!! Open the F***n’ Strait, you crazy b***ds, or you’ll be living in Hell - JUST WATCH! Praise be to Allah. President DONALD J. TRUMP.” He previously also threatened that the U.S. would bomb Iran “back to the Stone Age where they belong,” a phrase echoed by Secretary of War Pete Hegseth.

Indeed, praise be to Allah (swt), the One we obey and whose mercy we seek. Indeed, praise be to Allah (swt) who destroyed Pharaoh and his ilk. Indeed, praise be to Allah (swt) who brought down empires due to their arrogance. Indeed, the Pharaohs of our time are ignorant of the lessons of history, despite referencing the Stone Age in their hate-filled imperial hubris.

The rhetoric Trump used against Iran mirrors a long-standing pattern in U.S. military history, in which overwhelming force and the threat of total destruction have been employed to achieve political objectives. In Iraq, the U.S. waged multiple campaigns that devastated civilian infrastructure, from the 1991 Gulf War to the 2003 “shock and awe” bombings, invasion, and subsequent occupation. Entire cities were heavily damaged, including schools, hospitals, power plants, and water systems, leaving millions of Iraqis displaced and causing long-term humanitarian crises. Similarly, in Afghanistan, decades of conflict following the 2001 U.S.-led invasion involved extensive bombing campaigns and indiscriminate targeting, killing countless innocent civilians and causing widespread destruction of villages, schools, and healthcare facilities.

This pattern extends further back in history. During World War II, the U.S. conducted extensive firebombing campaigns in Japanese cities such as Tokyo, Osaka, and Toyama, followed by the use of atomic bombs on Hiroshima and Nagasaki, killing hundreds of thousands and leveling urban centers under the guise of hastening the end of the war. In Vietnam, U.S. forces carried out sustained bombing campaigns in both North and South Vietnam, including the infamous Operation Rolling Thunder, targeting infrastructure and causing massive civilian casualties and ecological destruction. Beyond Asia and the Middle East, the U.S. engaged in covert destabilization and intervention throughout Latin America, including coups in Chile and Guatemala, as well as support for paramilitary groups, contributing to prolonged social and economic instability. Across these regions, the strategy of using overwhelming military power and disrupting civilian life has been a consistent tool to enforce U.S. geopolitical aims, producing humanitarian consequences that persist long after active conflict ends.

Unlike past U.S. military threats, which were often cloaked in rhetoric about protecting civilians, promoting democracy, or ending tyranny, the current warnings against Iran strip away any pretense of concern. Today, the language is openly revelatory: Trump’s vow to bomb Iran “back to the Stone Age”, celebrates destruction itself, revealing a striking love of violence and devastation that was once veiled behind moralistic justifications. The U.S. no longer masks the fact that its power can and will be exercised in ways that obliterate societies, making the rhetoric itself a chilling testament to its brutality.

In conclusion, the world increasingly yearns for an order rooted not in brute force or profit, but in justice, prosperity, and genuine mercy - qualities the current capitalist system cannot provide. While global elites flaunt their power and celebrate destruction, ordinary people suffer, longing for governance that places human dignity, honor, and the sanctity of life above all. True stability and lasting peace can only come from a system divinely ordained by Allah (swt), committed to protecting life, upholding justice, and exercising mercy. This alternative exists in the Khilafah (Caliphate), for Islam alone provides a just system that governs all people without prejudice or double standards. The civilizational project to establish the Khilafah Rashidah is the only system capable of bringing humanity out of the oppression of capitalism and into the light of Islamic justice.

“Have they not travelled throughout the land to see what was the end of those destroyed before them? They were far superior in might and monuments (they have left) throughout the land. But Allah seized them for their sins, and they had no protector from Allah.” [Ghafir: 21]
