It is quite alarming for the people of Bangladesh, when various sources confirm that the United States and Bangladesh are moving forward with a series of defense and trade agreements under colonial ‘Reciprocal Trade Agreement (ART)’. The USA campaign for GSOMIA moved from abstract concepts to a concrete roadmap in March 2022, when the then U.S. Secretary of State Victoria Nuland delivered a draft of the General Security of Military Information Agreement (GSOMIA) within the framework of the U.S. Indo-Pacific Strategy (IPS) was envisioned in 2017 and codified in 2019. While Nuland’s visit was the high-water mark for GSOMIA, the Acquisition and Cross-Servicing Agreement (ACSA) was formally raised in April 2019 and reinforced during the 7th Security Dialogue in Dhaka. Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Bangladesh has been warning the people and politicians that Bangladesh is on the verge of signing two major U.S. military deals - GSOMIA and ACSA- whose real dangers are now surfacing as American lobbying to fast-track these sovereignty-eroding pacts enters its final stage. Under this framework, GSOMIA could force Bangladesh to align intelligence with U.S. regional goals, dragging it into unwanted conflicts, while ACSA may enable "soft bases" like in Cox's Bazar - a form of neo-colonial influence that undermines strategic neutrality.

Since 2009, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Bangladesh has been the only political party vocal against US soft-colonialism, warning the Ummah that the same type of ACSA military agreement pushed on Sri Lanka after 9/11 to control strategic waters now poses a similar sovereignty threat to Bangladesh. In March 2026, following the visit of US Assistant Secretary Paul Kapur and aggressive American lobbying for GSOMIA and ACSA, Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Bangladesh organized protest rallies after Jumu'ah prayers in Dhaka and Chittagong, highlighting President Trump's own demand for Bangladesh's Prime Minister to take "decisive action" to finalize these sovereignty-eroding deals.

Do the rulers of the country believe that their survival depends on Washington?  Whereas Washington could never protect any ruler from the anger of people. Rather the USA washes the hands by engaging with the people in the fall of the anti-people regime, then looking for an alternative. RasulAllah (saw) warned about the very "Ruwaibidah"- vile and base fools who serve Western hegemony and betray public trust. Yet the rulers mortgage the Ummah's future for temporary security, acting as lackeys, not leaders. Do we have any hope from the existing political parties who are not ready to Say a Firm No to Washington and Protect People's Sovereignty?

And, where are the 'Young Turks' of the July Uprising? They remain silent on US neo-colonialism and these anti-sovereignty deals, wanting instead to stay in America's good books like all other parties. Are they also becoming cronies of the colonialist USA? This silence is betrayal. These trade and military deals are the acid test for these parties claiming to represent the people - history offers a clear warning. They argue to invite ‘USA’ to safeguard from ‘India’. Is it not inviting the ‘wolf’ to safeguard from the ‘bear’?

Hizb ut Tahrir / Wilayah Bangladesh invites every aware citizen, sincere politicians, and Sincere Officers in our Military to stop wasting energy on parties whose silence on these defense pacts proves they have no intention of protecting your sovereignty. Do not be fooled by their slogans. They want to sold you out for their power. Only the politics of bringing back the Khilafah (Caliphate) upon the method of Prophethood can be deemed truly sincere and truthful. Only the Khilafah can have the courage and capability to stand against US military blackmail, economic pressure, and strategic encirclement. The Khilafah will not beg for trade deals at the cost of its land. It will not trade its ports for textile tariffs. It will bow only to Allah (swt).

[وَلَنْ يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً]

“…And never will Allah grant the disbelievers a way over the believers” [Surah An-Nisa:141].
