Following the aggression by America and the Jewish entity against Iran, the German government definitively revealed its true stance, exposing the purely instrumental nature of so-called international law. Instead of upholding its long-proclaimed “values” and staunchly defending them within the framework of the European Union, it chose to submit to the aggressive hegemonic policies pursued by America.
Just one day after the start of the aggression, German Chancellor Friedrich Merz declared that the Iranian regime is a terrorist regime responsible for decades of oppressing the Iranian people, that it threatens the existence of the Jewish entity, and that it is responsible for the terrorism of Hamas and Hezbollah in Lebanon. He stated that Germany shares with the US and the Jewish entity the interest in ending this regime's terrorism and halting its dangerous nuclear and ballistic missile program. Despite the inherent risks involved in the actual course of the war, Germany supports the actions of the US and the Jewish entity.
The Chancellor downplays the blatant violation of international law by pointing to its limited effectiveness, arguing that international legal appeals and adjustments largely have little impact. He added, “Therefore, this is not the time to lecture our partners and allies.”
In a joint statement with French President Emmanuel Macron and British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, the Chancellor went even further, reversing the roles of perpetrator and victim! Instead of calling the aggression of America and the Jewish entity what it is, the leaders of the three European countries (E3) condemned Iran's attacks on countries in the region in the strongest terms and called on Tehran to “immediately cease all forms of resistance”.
Friedrich Merz reiterated this position during his visit to the White House, stating that the Iranian regime bears responsibility for the brutal repression of its people and poses a threat to the existence of the Jewish entity and to peace and security throughout the region. Accordingly, the German government shares the interests of America and the Jewish entity in putting an end to all of this. The Chancellor offered no dissenting opinion, even in his brief intervention, which comprised only about ten percent of the allotted time, when Trump directly attacked Spain, a partner of the European Union, asking in the context of trade policy: “How are we going to treat Spain? I think we should hit very hard.” Instead of confidently defending German and European interests, he once again resigned himself to the role of a “stunt man”, as commentator Robin Alexander put it.
All of this clearly demonstrates that Friedrich Merz, following the uproar against his decision to temporarily halt arms sales to the Jewish entity last year, succumbed to transatlantic and Zionist pressures. After the National Security Council meeting on March 1st, those factions within the Christian Democratic Union (CDU) who had accused the then-Chancellor of betraying “the supreme interest of the German state” gained the upper hand. Furthermore, this selective invocation of international law will severely erode Europe's credibility. As international law professor Matthias Goldmann stated, “This will make it much more difficult in the future to compel other states to comply with this law, particularly with regard to Ukraine.” He continued, “The situation is all the more serious given that what is happening is not merely a limited clash, but a large-scale attack with explicit political backing and no regard for the law. Merz's and the E3 countries' statements regarding an attack on Iran set a dangerous precedent and represent a blatant breach of the international system”.
Germany's abandonment of principles like international law, which it has long championed, is not interpreted in Washington as pragmatic wisdom, but rather as a sign of weakness leading to increased dependence on the United States. This is the same America that continues to impose its imperialistic interests through the threat of economic and military power, even against its Western partners like the European Union. The German Chancellor has not only failed to formulate a European position based on intrinsic values, but has also been unable to safeguard German national interests, which are increasingly threatened by the war with Iran. Iran's defensive strategy, based on expanding the conflict regionally, threatens to exacerbate the risk of a global energy crisis that could severely damage Germany and potentially push its already burdened economy into another recession. While Brent and West Texas Intermediate crude oil prices have at times exceeded $100 per barrel, energy experts warn that, given the ongoing bottlenecks in liquefied natural gas (LNG) supplies, prices could reach around €100 per megawatt-hour. If the crisis lasts for months, German industry could face a critical situation, according to estimates by the German Economic Institute.
However, the federal government's self-absorption not only reveals its weakness facing America, but also exposes the falsehood and deception of the Western rhetorical approach based on the triad of international law, democracy, and capitalism. The Ummah is no longer swayed by these misleading Western calls; rather, a growing awareness is emerging of a truth that Hizb ut Tahrir has consistently highlighted through its intellectual and political activities: that establishing the Khilafah (Caliphate) is the only way to overcome Western colonial interventionist and hegemonic policies and to rescue the Ummah from the quagmire into which it has fallen.

“And declare, “The truth has come and falsehood has vanished. Indeed, falsehood is bound to vanish.”” [Al-Isra: 81]
