Press Release
THE MASSACRE OF ROHINGYA MUSLIMS

The Muslims in Rakhine or Arakan, Burma, as acknowledged by Amnesty International, until today have become the targets of violence and mass killings by the extremist Buddhists witnessed by the Burmese government.

The Rohingya Muslims who originally have been living in Rakhine or Arakan since the 8th century, now become stateless. The Burmese government continues to take ruthless actions: restricting the movements of Rohingya Muslims, not giving them the rights to own land, denied their rights to education and public services. The UN refugee agency, UNHCR, said that due to the ongoing attacks, tens of thousands Muslims have been killed, while hundreds of thousands of others have been forced to flee to different countries such as Bangladesh, Malaysia or Thailand, and Indonesia. These people called "boat people", are floated at sea to seek asylum in safe countries, but are still driven away, as if there is no place on this earth as a shelter for them. According to the UNHCR, about one million Rohingya Muslims are now forced to live outside Myanmar, but so far there have been no third countries willing to accept them permanently.

With all the policies, it cannot be denied that the Burmese government intends to slaughter all Rohingya Muslims (Muslim cleansing). The state where there is a Nobel laureate for peace, who is supposed to protect them, even calls the Rohingya Muslim "a threat to national security ".

Most recently, on October 9, in Maungdauw District in Northern Rakhine Province, a group of people attacked three police posts in the Tatmadaw. The Government immediately held the Rohingya militants responsible for the attack. As a response, curfews and military operations were imposed. As a result, over 200 people have been killed in military operations for 2 weeks. Human Rights Watch again reported that Rohingya resettlements became the victims of the scorched-earth military campaign. The burning of the houses was then followed by more vigorous military operations to the civilian Rohingya with the pretext of fighting against the extremists. 30,000 had to flee and even died. The access to aid and the external movements is restricted by this ruthless regime. Where else can our brothers take refuge? While the rulers of the Muslim countries are silent and do not do anything.

This fact is certainly very heartbreaking. The Rohingya Muslims are an inseparable part of the Muslim population in the world estimated at more than 1.6 billion people. How is it possible that so many Muslims are not able to protect their brothers who have been persecuted brutally.

Where is the izzah or the glory of the ummah? This fact, along with the similar afflictions experienced by the Muslims in Pattani, in southern Thailand, in Moro, Southern Philippines as well as in Iraq, Afghanistan and Palestine, shows one thing: Muslims have been powerless after the umbrella of the Islamic world, Daulah Khilafah "Caliphate", was collapsed in 1924.

Regarding the issue, Hizb ut Tahrir Indonesia today stages a rally #StopRohingyaGenocide in front of the Myanmar Embassy that continued to the front of the Merdeka Palace, and states:

1. Condemn the harsh violence, destruction of properties belonging to Rohingya Muslims, massacres and expulsions carried out by the extremist Buddhists, backed by the priests and the Burmese government against the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan region of Burma, as barbaric acts.

2. Urge the Burmese government to immediately stop the brutal actions. And also stop all policies that aim to clear off the existence of the Rohingya Muslims in Arakan region. The Rohingya Muslims who have been there in the Arakan region for ages, even longer than the state of Burma, should be recognized as legal residents in the region with all their rights.

3. Urge Indonesian government to take effective actions so that these atrocities will not continue. Also provide protection and proper treatment of the Rohingya immigrants who arrived in Indonesia territory, rather than to drive them back to the sea.

4. Call upon the people to move together to take action for the Rohingya Solidarity in all its forms. We further call the ummah to sincerely, hand-in-hand, strive together for the reestablishment of the Sharia and Khilafah "Caliphate" upon the method of the Prophethood. Only under the shade of the Daulah Khilafah "Caliphate", the 1.6 billion Muslims can unite and be strong, so that the protection of the dignity of the Muslims in various regions, including that of the Rohingya Muslims, can be done realistically. And the similar oppressions will not happen again. Insha Allah.
