On Monday 27 August 2018, President Uhuru Kenyatta will hold talks with his US counterpart Donald Trump in Washington. In a statement released by the US Press Secretary Sarah Sanders, President Trump invited President Kenyatta for a meeting in the White House to discuss growing trade between the two countries and finding a lasting solution into insecurity in neighbouring Somalia and South Sudan.

Kenya is currently reeling from mindboggling mega financial scandals involving billions of cash alleged to be looted from public coffers. Such scandals are a repetition of what transpired in the Uhuru’s administration in his first term of leadership. What is so painful is that they are happening at a time when the citizens are languishing from severe floods, deplorable sectors of education, health and general poor infrastructure etc.

At least 100 people have been killed and a quarter million left homeless in flood-related incidences since the start of spring flooding in Kenya. The most affected regions are Tana Delta, Tana River, Garissa, Isiolo and Kisumu.
