Raising Fuel Prices Is a Grave Injustice
Due to Turning Away from the Shariah of Allah and Following the Subordination to the Kafir West and Implementation of Its Man-Made Laws

On Sunday, 13/9/2026, the current transitional administration in Damascus raised fuel prices again for the third time in a row, citing the rise in global fuel prices, at a time when our people in Syria are suffering from poverty and hardship, to the point that many families are unable to secure their daily sustenance. This has led to angry protests throughout Syria, and some protesters have blocked some main roads.

The angry protests that took place are a natural result of the hardship people are suffering, their sense of injustice and disappointment, because they revolted against the injustice they had endured for many years, and made great sacrifices of their blood, money and children in order to enjoy living with dignity and honour under the rule of Islam, because there is no dignity, honour and happiness except by implementing Islam and living under Shariah.

The transition from one injustice to another, from one hardship to another, is a natural consequence of implementing man-made systems. None of our problems will be solved unless we establish Allah's law.

What we are witnessing today in terms of high fuel prices and soaring costs is not a passing problem, but rather a natural consequence of the subjugation of political decision-making, to the point that everything has become tied to the will of major powers and their greedy, usurious financial institutions.

Islam has made oil and gas a public property. Prophet Muhammad (saw) said: «الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرَكَاءُ فِي ثَلَاثٍ، فِي الْكَلَأِ، وَالْمَاءِ، وَالنَّارِ» “Muslims are partners in three things: pasture, water, and fire.” Islam has made these resources and other public property a right of Muslims. The state is responsible for exploring, extracting, developing, and securing them for the people at cost price. This is its duty according to specific rules and is not a favour or a gift from it. Any surplus from the revenues of public property is placed in a special section of the treasury and is spent from it on the interests of the people justly. It is not placed in the accounts of the rulers nor spent on those close to them to buy loyalties and strengthen authoritarianism.

The oil and gas wells that Allah has blessed us with are public property and, when we apply the rulings and systems of Islam with the mindset of a welfare state, are capable of solving all economic problems. If we do not apply the Shariah of Allah, we will continue to live in hardship and misery. Allah (swt) says: [وَمَنْ أَعْرَضَ عَن ذِكْرِي فَإِنَّ لَهُ مَعِيشَةً ضَنكاً وَنَحْشُرُهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ أَعْمَى] “But whoever turns away from My Reminder will certainly have a miserable life, then We will raise them up blind on the Day of Judgment” [TMQ Ta-Ha: 124].

What exacerbates the injustice and worsens the situation, as a consequence of disobeying Allah’s commands, is granting foreign colonial companies the rights to invest in and explore oil and gas fields in exchange for exorbitant percentages. Islam forbids the state from granting the investment of public property to others, especially foreign companies. It is no secret that these companies plunder our resources, usurp our sovereignty, and reinforce the dominance of covetous nations over our lands.

The legitimate popular movements that have arisen against the great injustice inflicted upon them, should not limit their objectives to merely replacing one minister with another who implements the same man-made system. Rather, we must realize that the problem is not simply replacing one person with another, but rather it is the existing man-made system that we must strive to fundamentally change in order to establish the Islamic system that Allah (swt) has ordained for us to live under. In this alone lies our success, our honour, our happiness, and our triumph in this world and the Hereafter.

Allah (swt) says:

[يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا اسْتَجِيبُوا لِلَّهِ وَلِلرَّسُولِ إِذَا دَعَاكُمْ لِمَا يُحْيِيكُمْ وَاعْلَمُوا أَنَّ اللَّهَ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ وَأَنَّهُ إِلَيْهِ تُحْشَرُونَ]

“O believers! Respond to Allah and His Messenger when he calls you to that which gives you life. And know that Allah stands between a person and their heart, and that to Him you will all be gathered” [TMQ Al-Anfal: 24].
