The West is Torn between Left and Right Parties in Search of Salvation from Capitalism

News:

US President Donald Trump said on Friday, April 25, that there is "no deadline" for reaching a peace agreement in Ukraine, but he wants to "do it as soon as possible." Comment:

Since the end of January 2025, the entire world has been watching as the newly elected US President, who came to power thanks to right-wing slogans filled with populism, tries to put his election promises into practice.

The greatest commotion in the information sphere was created by his actions in relation to the war in Ukraine, as well as tariff wars with other countries.

Thus, his election promise to end the war in Ukraine "within 24 hours" first gradually grew into "within a few months," then "before the Christian holiday of Easter," then "before the first 100 days of his rule." Today, he declares that there is "no deadline" for reaching a peace agreement in Ukraine.

It is worth recalling that Trump's new statement contradicts previous statements by Secretary of State Marco Rubio, who warned that the US would stop its peace efforts "within days" if significant progress was not made.

Also worth mentioning is Trump's public humiliation in his own Oval Office on February 28, 2025, when his team's clumsy, undiplomatic actions led to a conflict with Ukrainian President V. Zelensky.

If we talk about the tariff wars that Trump started after taking office, they are also full of contradictions.

Let us just mention the details of the tariff war with China. So, on February 1, 2025, the Trump administration imposed a 10% tariff on all Chinese goods. China responded with tariffs of 10-15%. On April 2, 2025, on the so-called "Liberation Day", Trump announced the introduction of 10% universal tariffs on imports from all countries. In addition, "reciprocal" tariffs of up to 54% were introduced on goods from China and other countries, which came into force on April 9. On April 9, 2025, the United States increased tariffs on Chinese goods to 145%. China responded with tariffs of 84% on American imports, and then increased them to 125%, starting on April 12.

Experts note that China is in a better position in this conflict due to the US dependence on Chinese goods and rare earth elements, the lack of support from US allies in the trade war, and less internal political pressure on the Chinese leadership compared to the Trump administration.

The impact of this did not take long to materialize: in the second half of April 2025, the Trump administration began considering easing tariff policies amid pressure from American technology companies. By April 22–24, 2025, it was announced that consumer electronics, including smartphones, laptops, tablets, and networking equipment, would be temporarily excluded from the list of goods subject to increased duties. These goods retained their previous low tariffs or received reduced rates (to 5–10% instead of 54–145%).

In light of the above, Trump is increasingly being compared to a bull in a china shop, whose every action only worsens his situation.

Although Trump and his team have some kind of plan to reform established American policy both domestically and internationally, it appears that this plan is still clearly crude and lacking in detail.

Here I would like to point out the fact that what is happening today in the US is a manifestation of the confrontation between left and right political forces. A similar confrontation has been taking place in European political life for more than a decade.

Trump's second rise to power in the United States has clearly demonstrated this confrontation now in American politics.

There is no doubt that the rule of the leftist political forces in Europe and the United States poses an existential threat to their societies. The advancement of all kinds of freedoms has corrupted societies to such an extent that, in addition to numerous other problems, they are faced with a demographic problem that forces them to accept more and more migrants from the countries they colonized as cheap labor.

This situation does not go unnoticed by the average Westerner, who, in search of salvation and a solution to this problem, finds nothing but right-wing populist views and slogans.

The rise of nationalist and populist parties is natural and inevitable for states experiencing an ideological crisis.

As for the right, they do not have a coherent plan of action, since the implementation of their agenda requires serious transformations of public and state institutions in a specific Western state. A right-wing politician does not have the strength or the time in power to do this, and the main drawback of the right, which determines their failure, is that they are looking for a solution within the framework of a new version of capitalism and democracy, which are the main reason for the current decline of Western countries.

They are similar to those about which Allah Almighty speaks in Surah Baqarah:

“The lightning almost takes away their sight. When it flashes, they move on, and when darkness descends, they stop. If Allah had willed, He could have taken away their hearing and their sight. Indeed, Allah is Able to do all things.” (Baqarah, 20).
