The Bleeding Ummah: A Tale of Fitnah and Geopolitical Exploitation

The recent escalation of violence, marked by the harrowing attacks in Kohat and Hangu followed by retaliatory airstrikes in Afghanistan, represents yet another tragic chapter in a conflict that is systematically consuming the sons of the Islamic Ummah. Today, Muslims are pitted against Muslims in a war of fitnah (strife) that serves no higher purpose than to feed US colonialist designs and consolidate foreign hegemony in the region.

With the formal retreat of the US forces from Afghanistan in August 2021 and a shifting global strategic focus, Pakistan’s historical utility as a rent-seeking security partner in Washington’s eyes has fundamentally shifted. Rather than receiving traditional strategic patronage, Islamabad finds itself tasked with policing the messy aftermath of the American withdrawal, acting as a regional proxy to contain and pressure Afghanistan. This dynamic traps the Pakistani deep state in a continuous loop: justifying its domestic security posture by arguing that Afghanistan harbors transnational terrorist threats, while simultaneously trying to prove to Western capitals that it remains a reliable counter-terrorism anchor in defiance of agreements like the Doha Accord.

This subservience creates a dangerous feedback loop. The reliance of the deep state on a security paradigm tethered to the colonialist US approval provides militant groups with their primary ideological ammunition. Insurgents exploit this subservience of the Pakistani state apparatus to fuel their narrative, framing their domestic war as a righteous resistance against a puppet of the colonialists.

Ultimately, this internal bloodshed weakens both sides of the border while fulfilling the long-term strategic objectives of foreign powers who prefer a fractured and destabilized Muslim heartland. It is past time for Pakistan to break free from this legacy of US slavery, abandon policies dictated from abroad, and realign its priorities towards launching Jihad to liberate the occupied lands of the Muslims, steering away from a conflict based on nationalistic borders that only weakens the collective strength of the region.
