America’s Crimes and Deceit Against the People of Syria
(Translated)

Al-Rayah Newspaper - Issue 586 - 11/02/2026

By Ustadh Muhammad Saeed Al-Aboud

It is no secret to observers and those engaged in politics that Syria, since the beginning of the era of the late Hafez Al-Assad, became subordinate to America. It was America that facilitated Bashar Al-Assad’s accession to power as a successor to his father. Madeleine Albright, the then US Secretary of State, attended the theatrical transfer of power to Bashar and no other world leader attended besides her, and she declared from Damascus that the transfer of power had taken place in a calm and smooth manner, expressing America’s endorsement of this transition and its support for Bashar.

Moreover, America’s crimes in Syria are evident in its protection of the Al-Assad regime and its support for it in suppressing Muslims during the Hama events in the 1980s, as well as its support and sponsorship of Bashar Al-Assad in crushing the Syrian uprising during the Arab Spring. The statements of its officials were timid, merely for show and deception, such as when Barack Obama declared that Bashar had lost his legitimacy and must step down without any real pressure to speak of. On the contrary, America was secretly providing him with money and time to eliminate the Syrian uprising. Bashar used chemical weapons several times against Muslims in Syria, which indicates that he felt safe from punishment. What followed was a theatrical response when Trump ordered strikes on some runways of the Tiyas (T-4) Air Base, in addition to certain sanctions that did not affect the regime but instead burned the Syrian people. This is aside from America’s mobilization of our enemies and those who hypocritically claimed friendship with us, to smother the revolution and undermine it.

This is all that America has done openly regarding the criminality of the Al-Assad regime, while secretly supporting it by instructing Iran and its militias to enter Syria and fight alongside the regime, and by allowing and coordinating with Russia to support and protect the regime when Iran failed to crush the revolution.

The regime has continued, under America’s protection and sponsorship, for fourteen years, killing and detaining the people of al-Sham, destroying their cities and towns, and displacing them, without fearing any real punishment especially when compared to the protection America affords to small ethnic groups, after inciting them to rebellion, and its use of its forward military base in the heart of the lands of Muslims - the Jewish entity - to bomb the country’s infrastructure. This also includes the use of the sanctions of the Caesar Act, which should have ended with the fall of the Al-Assad regime, yet America has kept them as a sword hanging over the Syrian people in order to pressure them into accepting the new administration’s concessions on political, security, and economic fronts.

Among the worst practices America employs to impose its influence and entrench its dominance over Syria is exploiting the issue of small ethnic groups, as a pretext to impose its will. It has been stirring them up behind the scenes to sow the seeds of Syria’s partition and to create a form of hybrid governance, between federalism and administrative decentralization, keeping the country in a state of paralysis and perpetual conflict. This enables America to manage the conflict and intervene in every minor and major matter through its special envoy Tom Barrack and its emissaries from the US State Department and US Congress, while at the same time falsely and deceptively claiming to support the country’s unity and stability.

The true enemy of the Syrian people in particular, and of the Islamic Ummah in general, is America. Its covert incitement of small ethnic groups and its overt protection of their rebellion - while refraining from imposing calm and integration upon them despite being fully capable of doing so with a simple directive - clearly indicates, beyond any doubt, that it is manipulating the fate of the Syrian people, indeed of the peoples of the entire world. It imposes upon them whomever it wishes as rulers, then removes them once they lose the ability to serve its interests. To rely on America is political suicide and one of the gravest crimes against the Ummah and the Deen.

The Shariah obligation in the face of America’s aggression against Syria, its destruction of the country, and the displacement of its people at the hands of its agent Bashar, is to work to uproot its influence from Syria and from the lands of the Muslims, to expel its tools, and to warn against cooperation, alliance, or accommodation with it. As for relying on it and seeking its approval in the hope of stabilizing rule and achieving prosperity, that is like seeking grapes from thorns. Recently, much has been said about the policy of Ahmed al-Sharaa, the Syrian president for the transitional phase, and his statements that align with America’s inclinations, including his remarks to Christiane Amanpour, CNN’s chief international correspondent, at the Doha Forum in Qatar, in which he strove hard to distance himself from the charge of terrorism - despite the fact that America’s agreements with regimes to fight “terrorism” are in reality aimed at fighting Islam and its rulings.

Silence regarding the concessions made by the current administration toward America, and granting space to those who make such concessions is a violation of the Shariah Law of Allah (swt). It leads the country toward further fragmentation, conflict, loss, and political, security, and economic instability. Indeed, it will inevitably result in the domination of internal forces that are hostile to Islam in both heart and substance. Justifying these concessions, promoting them, and fabricating misleading fatwas to legitimize them is a dangerous slippery slope and a sweeping evil whose harm will not be limited to the current administration alone, but will extend to the people of Syria and all of their sacrifices.

That which decisively resolves the conflict, ends the discord, and cuts off the hand of American intervention is the implementation of the Shariah Law of Allah (swt), Glorified and Exalted, Who says,

[وَلَن يَجْعَلَ اللَّهُ لِلْكَافِرِينَ عَلَى الْمُؤْمِنِينَ سَبِيلاً]

“And Allah will never grant the disbelievers a way over the believers” [TMQ Surah An-Nisa 141].

The Shariah Law of Allah (swt) is what gives everyone their due right. Once non-Muslims experience the mercy and justice of Islam, they will calm down; indeed, they will enter the Deen of Allah (swt) in multitudes. To implement the Shariah Law of Allah (swt), the ruler must seek the support of the Muslims at home - and they are not few - and throughout the world, and they will come to him in their millions, instead of relying on criminal disbelievers such as America and those allied with it.

Leaders must also be prepared to sacrifice life, wealth, and authority, as the Messenger of Allah (saw) said, «لَوْ وَضَعُوا الشَّمْسَ فِي يَمِينِي وَالْقَمَرَ فِي شِمَالِي عَلَى أَنْ أَتْرُكَ هَذَا الْأَمْرَ حَتَّى يُظْهِرَهُ اللَّهُ أَوْ أَهْلِكَ فِيهِ مَا تَرَكْتُهُ»“If they were to place the sun in my right hand and the moon in my left on the condition that I abandon this matter, I would not abandon it until Allah makes it prevail or I perish therein.”

Yes, this is the Methodology of the Prophethood in establishing the Deen and implementing the Shariah Law of the Lord of the worlds - not submission and concessions to the enemies of Allah (swt), who scheme against the Ummah night and day, as Allah (swt) says,

[لا يَرْقُبُونَ فِي مُؤْمِنٍ إِلا وَلا ذِمَّةً وَأُولَئِكَ هُمُ الْمُعْتَدُونَ]

“They do not honor the bonds of kinship or treaties with the believers. It is they who are the transgressors” [TMQ Surah At-Tawbah 10].
