Later, the Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) quoted a diplomatic source in the Foreign Ministry as saying that the meeting included “a high-level Syrian delegation led by the Foreign Minister and the heads of General and Military Intelligence, alongside a high-level “Israeli” delegation, through American mediation and Jordanian hosting, as part of efforts aimed at de-escalation following the recent “Israeli” bombardment of Syrian territory, rising tensions in southern Syria, and supporting stability in Syria and the region.”

The source added, “The discussions focused on establishing practical mechanisms to halt ‘Israeli’ aggression, arrests, and targeting, as well as reviving the negotiation track with the aim of reaching a security agreement that could serve as the foundation for a more comprehensive future agreement.”

The source continued, “The discussions also addressed the importance of supporting Syria’s stability and maintaining regional security, including efforts aimed at bridging viewpoints between Türkiye and “Israel,” and ensuring that the ongoing tension between the two countries does not impact Syrian territory… “The meeting focused on taking practical steps toward de-escalation, alongside exploring ways to return to the negotiation track, while Syria emphasized that any security arrangements must respect its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and sovereign rights.”

The meeting comes about a week after an “Israeli” strike targeted an airbase at Abu al-Duhur Airport in northwestern Syria, and one day after “Israel” targeted individuals it claimed were gunmen in Syria near the Golan Heights, where Damascus announced one person was injured in the strike, describing it as a “flagrant violation” of its sovereignty.
