The Tyranny of Oppressive Rulers Can Only Be Ended Through Radical Change
(Translated)

Since last Saturday, Erbil province has been witnessing security tensions following demonstrations by the Herki tribes in the Khabat district, accusing the Democratic Party of reneging on its promises to grant them three seats in parliament in exchange for the tribe giving it their votes in the elections. The demonstrations then turned into clashes between the Herki tribes and the security forces, resulting in deaths and injuries. In a notable development, the tribe declared a general mobilization in Erbil, and protesters burned the headquarters of the Kurdistan Democratic Party in the district today, Monday.

With the same police-state mentality, the Democratic Party dealt with the demonstrations of the residents of Lajan village, who demanded services and job opportunities for unemployed youth, announcing that the environment in the area has been polluted because of the Lanaz Refinery owned by the Democratic Party, and accusing it of controlling the oil wealth without providing any benefits to the people of the area. Protesters closed the road to fuel-transport trucks, which led to clashes with the Zeravani forces that the Democratic Party brought in to suppress the protests.

These demonstrations reflect the deterioration of the situation in the region, and the situation remains tense as several protesters have been arrested and residents of the village have been asked to evacuate under the pretext of searching for weapons.

This scene unfolding in Erbil is the same repeated scene in Iraq and across all Muslim lands. Ever since authority became a spoil and the state lost its nurturing character, those who hold power and rule have turned into insatiable sharks of corruption, swords hanging over the necks of the Ummah, and bridges for the kufr (disbelieving) West’s schemes in Muslim lands. They are exactly as the noble Messenger (saw) described them:

«أَلَا إِنَّهُ سَيَكُونُ عَلَيْكُمْ أُمَرَاءُ يَقْضُونَ لِأَنْفُسِهِمْ مَا لَا يَقْضُونَ لَكُمْ، إِنْ عَصَيْتُمُوهُمْ قَتَلُوكُمْ، وَإِنْ أَطَعْتُمُوهُمْ أَضَلُّوكُمْ»

“There will be rulers over you who will grant themselves what they do not grant you. If you disobey them, they kill you, and if you obey them, they misguide you.”

This humiliation, disgrace, and injustice that Muslims live under are nothing but symptoms of a single illness: the absence of the Khilafah. There is no cure and no rectification except through its return; patching a torn garment will not help.

O Muslims: Have you not had enough of the sacrifices you have made for decades, revolving in a fruitless circle without awareness, seeking a bit of a comfortable yet humiliating life, while you are a nation that once guided humanity with light and guidance?

Hizb ut Tahrir calls you to serious work and the correct direction to restore your glory and honor through radical change and the establishment of the Khilafah Rashidah (rightly guided Caliphate) on the method of the Prophethood. So be with the sincere workers for this great obligation.

[وَاللَّهُ مَعَكُمْ وَلَن يَتِرَكُمْ أَعْمَالَكُمْ] “And Allah is with you, and will never deprive you of your deeds.” [TMQ Muhammad: 35].
