Nafsiya Reflections: A Light through the Waves

It’s closing in on us. The message is clear and there can not be a denying of it. It’s a war on the Ummah! A war to silence us, a war to disunite us, a war to further nationalism, and a war to never call out for help. Allow the Muslim bloodshed, let Muslims be humiliated, let Muslims live in disgrace and poverty.

The recent ban on Hizb ut Tahrir in Britain shows their fear in Muslims uniting. Individuals belonging to Hizb ut-Tahrir, advocating for its support, or displaying its symbols in public places will be considered a criminal offense. They are the so-called country of freedom of speech. Their “democracy” quickly evaporated, as if they were drops of water falling on a scorching hot plate. However, this freedom is allowed for the discrimination against Muslims, burning the Quran, abusing the Muslims, colonizing them, and they must accept it. They must accept the so-called western reforms to modernize Muslims and forget their religion as a system from social, political, economic, and spirituality. We know that when Allah (swt) closes one door, HE (swt) opens a better one.

The war on Gaza opened eyes in so many ways that sent chills in the West’s spines. The worldwide protests, the Ummah called out on their rulers to move the armies, non-Muslims took an interest in Islam and started to study the Quran and Ma sha’ Allah, many have embraced Islam. Muslims know what tragedy is and are living it whether it’s in Palestine, Kashmir, Sudan, Congo, Syria, and sadly it does not stop there. Who in our Ummah has not seen or felt this tragedy. Our hearts bleed and we ask why is this happening? Why are we helpless, why are we still politically powerless, and why have we as an Ummah reached this point?

It is as if the Muslim Ummah has been thrown in the ocean and wave after wave are crashing down on us. We are trying to reach for air but another wave crashes down on us. When will the ship come and rescue us? When will the storm stop? This is how the Ummah is living but rather than ship we wait for the Muslim armies to move. Their love for this Dunya and their fear of breaking free of the shackles must be let go... The beloved Prophet Muhammad (saw) described us when he (saw) said,

قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏« يُوشِكُ الأُمَمُ أَنْ تَدَاعَى عَلَيْكُمْ كَمَا تَدَاعَى الأَكَلَةُ إِلَى قَصْعَتِهَا ‏» ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ وَمِنْ قِلَّةٍ نَحْنُ يَوْمَئِذٍ قَالَ ‏«بَلْ أَنْتُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ كَثِيرٌ وَلَكِنَّكُمْ غُثَاءٌ كَغُثَاءِ السَّيْلِ وَلَيَنْزِعَنَّ اللَّهُ مِنْ صُدُورِ عَدُوِّكُمُ الْمَهَابَةَ مِنْكُمْ وَلَيَقْذِفَنَّ اللَّهُ فِي قُلُوبِكُمُ الْوَهَنَ»‏ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ قَائِلٌ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ وَمَا الْوَهَنُ قَالَ ‏«حُبُّ الدُّنْيَا وَكَرَاهِيَةُ الْمَوْتِ‏» ‏.

Narrated Thawban: The Prophet (ﷺ) said: The people will soon summon one another to attack you as people when eating invite others to share their dish. Someone asked: Will that be because of our small numbers at that time? He replied: No, you will be numerous at that time: but you will be scum and rubbish like that carried down by a torrent, and Allah will take fear of you from the breasts of your enemy and last enervation into your hearts. Someone asked: What is wahn (enervation). Messenger of Allah (saw): He replied: Love of the world and dislike of death.

This is our reality. We are being attacked, even our ideas are being criminalized. Our hearts have been filled with Wahn where the love of Dunya has taken over us and made us selfish and heedless to meet our Creator. We as an Ummah need to unify as one body. We now must take the lead more than before. It is now an open battlefield against the Ummah. Our blood has filled the streets, our women and children slaughtered, and so much more that no words can describe. However, we as an Ummah should never lose hope. Why? Because we are the Ummah chosen by Allah (swt), entrusted with HIS (swt) message to carry Islam to the world. The Ummah that holds patience, endurance, resilience, that none on this earth have seen before! We must remain to hold our head's up high, knowing Allah (swt) is with us! And when the time comes it will be ours, victory has been promised by the All-Mighty. Have faith that there are sincere ones that are in the Muslim armies and will break free from the shackles that have been placed, Insha’ Allah. They live among us and by the permission of Allah (swt), and their steadfastness and perseverance the time will come! The time Allah (swt) sees befit.

We are finally waking up and seeing the true Hatred that has appeared from the West. Allah (swt) will change our condition for we are now finally waking up and seeing the reality that is against Muslims. We are now uniting together against the bloodshed. The Ummah will return to its rightful place. The victory of Allah (swt) is inevitable and His (swt) decree will not be thwarted by any force on the face of the earth. It will be the force that will finally bring mercy to the world and bring all the oppressors to their knees.

[وَلَا تَهِنُواْ وَلَا تَحۡزَنُواْ وَأَنتُمُ ٱلۡأَعۡلَوۡنَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤۡمِنِينَ]

Do not, then, either lose heart or grieve: for you shall surely gain the upper hand if you are true men of faith.[Surah 3: Aya 139]
