Thousands of poor workers migrate to the sugar cutting farms in India to earn money with up to a 6-month contract for the backbreaking task of cutting sugar cane. Women are unpaid and suffer possible loss of a job if they are off work due to having their monthly cycle. As a result, thousands of women, even young teenagers, pay for expensive hysterectomies that leave them in debt.
